I have eighteen amazing pre-k students. They live in an urban area and face many struggles and challenges. School is a very important place for them. It is a safe place where they come to grow, learn and explore. I truly love teaching them and helping them to build their foundation for future learning. They absorb new information like sponges and have an excitement for life. They always keep me laughing with their funny stories and sayings. I look forward to watching them grow and learn this school year.
My Project
My students need mini whiteboards for math and literacy. As we are near the end of the year, my students are getting closer to being kindergarteners. This means that they are doing more practice with writing their names, letter formations and also, numeral writing. I have improvised by using white paper inside of a sheet protector but they are hard to keep clean and are not as durable.
I feel that sturdy mini whiteboards could help my students to be successful in math and literacy.
The sheet protectors that I am currently using are very slippery and it is hard for the students to grip and write on. New whiteboards, markers and erasers will make it easier for the students to write. It would be quicker to erase and they can use them while on the carpet.
