My Students
I teach at a low income, Title I school in a small town in Tennessee. Over 60% of the students who attend our school are economically disadvantaged. Our students work very hard and have been recognized as a Reward School for two years in a row due to their hard work.
My Project
I am hoping to replace a "whiteboard" in our classroom that is currently not useable. The current "whiteboard" is a piece of shower board over an old, green chalkboard. When I moved to this classroom, the board was covered with writing from previous years' classes. I have tried every cleaner and type of scrubber and cannot get the writing to come off. If you want to see exactly what I mean, check out my classroom picture!
A new, magnetic whiteboard would provide a place to display content during instruction, a place for students to work out problems, and a place to display student work.
As a math teacher, I know that it is important for students to see a variety of example problems worked out and to have a place to share their thinking process. A new whiteboard would provide that space for these amazing students!
