Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Title I school serves high-poverty students in a lower socioeconomic area. There is a high population of English language learners, and over 60 percent of the students are on free and reduced price lunch. My school offers an after-school program that gives students additional learning opportunities as well as nutrition and exercise instruction to help develop strong bodies. My students are eager to learn and deserve tools and experiences that will help them be successful now and in the future.
My Project
Having whiteboard tables in the classroom will help my students in a variety of ways in all subject areas. We all learn through making mistakes, but some students are so afraid of making any mistakes they do poorly on assignments.
By working a problem through on a whiteboard table before completing that question on a test, students will build confidence in their abilities and will be more successful.
Having tables instead of desks will also help students collaborate with each other. They can formulate a plan before they start a project and can work out any problems they may have before they start.
