Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students I teach are in a special education class for students with Autism. The students have unique needs and struggle daily with significant communication and learning needs. They work every day on their life skills, daily living skills, and communication.
My students also live in a high poverty area, which makes our school even more unique, because they may not always have everything need at home.
My highly diverse learners oftentimes need some sort of tool to be more successful. Despite challenges at home and in the community, my students are enthusiastic, inquisitive, and thoughtful. In my classroom, we work with our students to work hard daily to improve their communication, behavior and academic skills.
My Project
It’s nice to have a colored dry erase markers to make a wonderful presentation on the board.
All of my students need dry erase markers and a holder.
We use them daily in reading, math, science, spelling, language arts, and social studies. We are always pulling our boards out and working problems. The markers and boards help to keep from wasting paper and pencils. The students always enjoy working problems on their boards, hiding it from their table partners and then reveling the answers to see who matches. Then they work together to see who has it correct. The students also enjoy the sunshine and the bright blue sky. The light covers will help them to relax and imagine they are working outside in the beautiful outdoors.
