I teach 8th grade students with Special Education needs. Their disabilities range from Autism to Emotional Behavior Disabilities as well as Learning disabilities. Many of my students struggles with anxiety.
Students in Special Education need resources to keep them interested in the work and learning at a steady pace.
I'm always looking for ways to help them keep their behaviors under control and keep them relaxed as possible about the pressures of 8th grade. Any resources that help keep them interested and moving ahead with their work are always appreciated!
My Project
My students need extra help practicing their math skills. Having a whiteboard instead of a chalkboard and extra calculators in the classroom will make our Math Booster class more effective. Students are more willing to do their work on a whiteboard. Having calculators available saves us time from them going to their lockers to retrieve a forgotten calculator.
My Math Booster students need extra time to learn math and putting the focus on their math practice instead of their materials will help them to learn.
I'm grateful for the support of my Special Education students. For some of them, this is their first time having a "regular" math class instead of Special Education math class. My goal is to help them to find success in their new math class.
