White Sea Bass Restoration (Environmental Service-Learning)
My students need these materials to raise and take care of White Sea Bass, Atractoscion nobilis. These supplies are vital to maintain these wonderful animals so we can restore them to the wild ocean!
Successful teaching starts by connecting with students in a way that is relevant and unexpected, sparking their curiosity and intrinsic desire to learn. Empowering students as partners in the journey builds trust and confidence to take on new challenges that inspire their development.
Our community is close to marine ecosystems we wish to positively impact, but due to low socio-economics of our students, most do not even experience the local oceans.
As a result, people tend not care about what they do experience. This project will connect the middle school students' urban lives and their community actions with marine ecosystem sustainability and pollution management while building an important academic-minded skill set to empower youth to take charge, today and into their future.
My Project
My students need Instant Ocean Sea Salt, Saltwater Master Test Kits, Freshwater Master Test Kits, Filter Floss, AquaSafe Water Conditioner and other aquatic supplies to allow us to maintain a salt water, aquatic ecosystem in our classroom to raise and take care of White Sea Bass, Atractoscion nobilis.
Our students will be able to apply their science learning and directly experience real world connections.
