My Students

I teach a mix of biology class from honors to co-taught classes in which half the students have learning disabilities. For many of my students, my class is the first time they will have had hands on biology lessons and biotech experiences. Many of my students want to work in health care professions and my class is their only opportunity to learn life science before enrolling in college level biology classes. I love working with these students because their excitement is contagious and they're interested in any activity that gets them up and moving. This forces me to be creative and keeps me on my toes.

My Project

My students need to practice and they actually ask for more challenging problems to try. When my students feel like they are able to try things out without penalty they are more willing to take chances, try new methods, and think creatively. Whiteboards give kids the flexibility to guess and check and to try out their ideas without consequence.

Whiteboards are the perfect medium modeling in science.

They allow students to build flow charts, food webs, lewis diagrams, and more. So many times students are afraid to write something down because it might be wrong. But, if you give them a whiteboard students engage openly and participate without hesitation. This class set of white boards will provide enough white boards for each student to be able to express their ideas.
