My Students

I have an amazing first grade group. They care about each other and help each other on a daily basis. They really want to do well and grow as learners. They have a growth mindset and are not afraid to make mistakes and learn from them. They are becoming independent readers and writers. I am so proud of how honest they are and they are in charge of their own learning. Each day I cannot wait to see them and watch them grow!

My Project

White boards are an essential tool in first grade. It allows the students to respond to questions asked by the teacher to show their thinking. White boards are an easy and fun way to have all students practice necessary first grade skills individually or as a group in reading and math. My current boards are very stained and cannot be cleaned any more. Some of the corners are peeling up and they look very unattractive. When learning tools are clean and attractive students are more apt to want to do better work as it is a reflection of them. My students deserve the best so please help me give them the best!

Word family dice will be used in a LA Center to help students practice making words and reading and writing them on the wipe off boards.
