My students are in the heart of Key West, Florida. Our school is known as a Title I school. It has been over a year since Hurricane Irma hit our beloved island, but we are still dealing with the effects. Effects are still felt by our students, our staff and our community. My class is a unique group of individual students. There are four languages spoken in the classroom, and some of the students are bi-lingual or tri-lingual. This dynamic is wonderful for our school and me as I constantly learn from each student daily.
These children are constantly eager to try and explore new opportunities that are associated with the kindergarten classroom and school.
As a school, we use different projects and invigorating ideas to help promote the curriculum in each grade level in our school. My goal is to try to help my students with different resources to promote a positive culture in the public school system and have these students develop a passion for learning and school.
My Project
Please help me give my students a whiteboard table to help promote all of the different concepts taught in kindergarten. Students will be able to use this whiteboard table to help with instruction in our kindergarten classroom. I plan on using this table to help with literacy and math instruction. Students will be able to use this table to help with learning about letters and sounds, counting money, and making a grocery list for our kitchen and store.
With the concept of financial literacy instilled in my kindergarten students, this will promote life long skills that will be used now and in the future.
I plan on using this whiteboard table for many different groups and plans. It will be set up next to our kitchen and store so students will be able to use it for adding up costs of certain items and for making lists. I am hoping this will promote financial literacy for all of my students as well as help with my teaching resources for all students.
