I am a special education teacher who works with students who range in disability. My students require extra support to access the curriculum and everyday life. The students at our school represent a diverse group. They come from a variety of countries and backgrounds and speak many different languages. Most of our children have experienced adversity in their lives that they continually strive to overcome. 98% live below the poverty level and more than 50% of our students speak English as a second language. Yet despite these disadvantages, our students are enthusiastic and hardworking, always willing to persevere and give their best.
My forty-five fourth, fifth and sixth grade special needs students are motivated by constant reminders that education is their key to success.
They have the ability and potential to be successful in their future educational careers and in life.
When students work with white board and dry erase markers they are able to be hands-on with their learning. My students work best when content and steps are color coordinated. The students are able to see what they have to do next and when to do it, especially in math.
Dry erase markers allow the students to easily add and erase their problems they are working on.My students are students who are on individualized education plans so visuals are essential.
I am reaching out in asking for help with getting materials for my students. With your help students will all be able to have their own hand held white board and be in control of their learning.
