My students need WhisperPhone Solos for individual use, WhisperPhone Duets for partners, and WhisperPhone Select for me to use with students in a small group; all while learning to read & write.
My inner-city kindergarten students are eager to learn and share. For many of these students, this is their first official school experience. With this in mind, I want these students to continue to want to learn and come to school.
I want my students to still be eager and willing to learn after kindergarten and actually for their entire lifetime.
They come to school excited and curious from all different types of backgrounds and starting points. Given support and opportunities, they are all capable of getting a strong educational foundation that will benefit them their entire lives.
My Project
Listening. It seems simple but it is quite complicated at times, especially in a tiny classroom with 18 children all excitedly learning. Listening is important for so many things, but in the quest to learn to read & write it is extremely important. Students are learning each sound letters make and working on blending those sounds together to create words.

WhisperPhones are an excellent tool for students to use while learning to read & write. They help students directly hear themselves, their partner or the teacher. It helps cut out extraneous noises and let children really focus on the task at hand.
Students and teachers need to make sure they are hearing the correct sounds at this point in their early development. This helps them sound out words to read but also to write. Students are relying on the sounds they hear to write the letters they know make those sounds.
WhispherPhones are an efficient way to allow all the students or partnerships talk at the same time. It keeps the general noise level under control while allowing everyone to focus on their task. The WhisperPhone Select will help me work with a small group while other children are working on tasks that require them to interact. It gets hard to hear each other, but if we can listen and talk through the tubes, students will receive a much better educational experience.
