This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach first grade in an urban school district. Half of my students are English language learners with English as their second language. Students in this class speak six different primary languages!
They come to school eager to learn, and I am proud to be their teacher!
I have already seen such growth with my students this year. Their reading levels are going up, the number of sight words they can read is increasing, and they are becoming so confident in their writing and math skills. I can't wait to see how much they grow this year!
My Project
Knowing where your pencil is located is a huge skill that my six year-old students have not mastered. Most of them cannot write their first name correctly, and do not even know what their last name looks or sounds like. The prop and park will allow students to keep track of items that are needed to keep track of their supplies, such as their pencil and eraser. This product is amazing because it also allows a space to put their name tag.
This is essential because some first graders do not know how to correctly write their first name.
And most, if not all, of them do not know how to spell their last name. They will get constant practice by being able to easily see their name.
