Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The almost 800 students at our school live in a low income neighborhood with limited access to basic school supplies. We are a Title I school with almost all of the students qualifying for free breakfast and free lunch each day. On average, 2-3 students in my classroom are considered homeless and struggle to find suitable housing. They qualify for assistance through The McKinney Vento Homeless Assistance Act.
Although my students have limited access to resources, they are enthusiastic to come to school each day, to learn many new standards.
I look forward to giving my students many of the much needed supplies this year by asking generous donors to provide these supplies.
My Project
Each year, a new group of students enters our classroom, but they do not come with the basic school supplies needed for daily instruction. I would like to provide pencil boxes, colored pencils, pencil sharpeners with lids, and individual dry erasers for the whiteboards I have already purchased.
With your help, the students will be better prepared for fifth grade by already having access to all of the necessary school supplies that most of their families would not otherwise provide for them.
Thank you for considering my project this year. I appreciate it.
