Our school has celebrated its 53rd birthday and we're moving on to #54! We have seen a tremendous amount of growth in our area and we are literally splitting at the seams. We are eager to increase our library collection/inventory to meet the needs of many of our growing readers. Our school is adjacent to one of the lowest socioeconomic housing areas in our community, at least a third of our students live at or below the poverty level. We also serve many military families from a nearby military base, an EOD school, and an army cantonment.
We have 800+ eager readers who visit our library regularly.
Most students stop in daily, looking to fulfill their heart's desires with the books that anxiously await them on the shelves, others come in to find much-needed affirmation from our amazing volunteers. Our library is more than a place to find books to read, it truly is the heart of our school. When students come to our library, they know that they are safe and loved.
My Project
Every day, a child will ask me for a book about this or that. Thankfully, I am able to meet that initial need, but if they liked it, then they want more.
There is NO such thing as having too many books!
Trust me, I know. They always want more, which in my mind is a GOOD thing!
I am constantly on the lookout for the latest and greatest books available. Of course, my avid readers alert me when the next book is out and remind me that we don't have it!
