Help me give my students the activities, reading resources, and review material they need to continue learning their science concepts. The hands-on activities will help me to create hands-on experiments with the students. Fun for everyone!
As the week ended in my classroom, I began to set up for the new week. Teaching Science Specials to the entire school, grades K-5th is all about organization, creativity, and planning. We were then notified that we would not be returning to the classroom and school for quite some time. As the school sat empty, my science classroom is quiet with all the experiments set up for students to complete, but no one to complete them.
The new normal now is to create a safe, stable, and fun learning environment that can happen from anywhere and with anything.
Virtual learning has been taking place for the past few weeks now between my students and I. Finding, planning, and organizing weekly STEM (Science, Technology, Engineer, and Math) challenges that will continue the learning from their home.
The challenge is trying to determine what challenges to assign, while trying to figure out what materials the students may have at home and who is at home to assist them.
My Project
The way of learning right now is virtual. I can interact with my students by creating challenges for them to complete, discussion questions for them to answer, or video chats for them to watch. Watching their knowledge continue to grow.
It would be a fun learning experience to engage the students further by using literacy material related to the topics I am covering and include a hands-on experiment or activity that I do with them online.
Reading them a story interactively, or planting some vegetables and holding a discussion over a period of time on how it grows.
