Help me give my students the gift of reading. Books like Where the Sidewalk Ends, White Bird, and Merci Suárez Changes Gears will be great additions to our classroom library!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from a variety of backgrounds from all over Ventura County. We are a public charter school whose mission is to foster global, independent, creative thinkers who are willing to take risks.
Much of student learning at our school is project based and has at its heart, student choice.
When students have a choice they are more invested in their learning. Giving students a variety of books to choose from means they are learning from a variety of sources!
My Project
My goal each year is to create a lifelong love of reading in each of my students as well as to create future, well-informed, thoughtful citizens. My students participate in a reading mini-lesson each day as part of "reader's workshop" and then they read independently and practice what they've learned.
A crucial part of the workshop model is a variety of books to support the diversified interests of my readers.
My students do not have a school library on campus, so it is important that our classroom library contains books that are rich and varied and up to date.
Your generous donations will help me bring the lifelong love of reading to both my current and future students! What a gift!
