My students need maps and a globe for our classroom to help us learn about the world around us.
This project expired on May 28, 2014.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
Some of my students rarely leave the county let alone the state. I use my technology to show them the world using Goggle Earth and other sites, but it would be nice for them to have these materials to reference when needed.
My class is in a rural area of West Virginia.
We have over 90% of our students who qualify for free or reduced price lunch. I transferred into second grade this year and I am lacking some needed supplies. Many of my students do not travel out of the state and have a hard time understanding the concepts of different communities, countries, etc.
My students will use the maps and globe to learn how to find West Virginia, the United States, and North America along with surrounding states. This is a common core standard for West Virginia. Students also should be able to identify continents and oceans on a map and globe. I feel that these items will allow my students to review these skills especially when our technology is not working.
The maps and globe will help my students to have a better understanding of how to use these items and meet the common core standards.
They will be able to reference them throughout the day as needed. Many students will benefit from these items as I will be able to use them for many years.
