My Students

The study of geography requires the use of globes and maps. Unfortunately, we do not even have a globe in our classroom. It is difficult to teach properties of the Earth's surface features without a globe. A globe would be very useful in the teaching of concepts such as location and spatial patterns.

I have a classroom of fourth grade students.

The school is located in a very poor rural area. The major industry here is logging. Our school has very limited funding since it is so small and located in a below poverty area. My students are very hardworking and eager to learn but it is difficult trying to teach geography without visuals such as maps and globes.

My Project

These resources would help my students to have direct experiences with a wide variety of geographic representations. Maps and globes will help students to understand spatial and symbolic information and provide a source of information about their world. Opportunities to read and interpret different kinds of maps will be available. Globes provide the most accurate representation of the Earth's surface and can be very useful in teaching location, time, Earth-sun relationships.

PLease support our class by donating to help buy globes and maps.

It is essential to have the tools needed to teach geography skills. We need these geography tools very badly in our classroom. Teaching geography requires the use of tools and geographic representations. Please help us to acquire maps and globes to help students learn geographic locations.
