My Students
My students, or as I call them "my kiddos', are some of the sweetest first graders you will ever met. They are kind, respectful and eager to learn. They come to school every day ready to work hard and to do their best. They play fair and treat everyone by the golden rule. Many of them do this in spite of the challenges they face at home and at school. In some cases, school is the safest and best part of their day.
My Project
Kids in my school have unlimited access to books on their chromebooks but they do not have access to real leveled readers. Little hands need to hold books everyday! They need to hold a book that is actually at their level and of their interest. It is so important to all early readers but especially mine as their home libraries are small or non existent. These simple books could make the difference between future success’ and failures in reading development for my first graders. Not only would these leveled books help with learning, they would also open their eyes to a world of fiction, adventure and imagination.
