This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are the highlight of my day. They all have different strengths and abilities, but each of them shines brightly. They are kind, thoughtful, hard-working scholars. I could not ask for better children to share my time and my classroom with.
In our group of 2nd graders, we have students with special needs, students who are learning English as a second language, and students who need extra social and emotional support.
Each child in our class strives to be their personal best, and be a contributing member of our classroom community.
My Project
We need some book bins in our classroom in order to organize the books in our library. The students in my class have a variety of different skill levels, and being able to organize the books by different reading levels as well as by different contents and authors will greatly help the students and their growth. Students choose their own books from our library to bring home every night and bring back to school every day. Having the books organized appropriately allows the children to pick books that are accessible to them, at a reading level that is challenging enough to help them grow, but easy enough that it is not overwhelming. It also allows them to find books that interesting and engaging to them, to create inspired life-long learners!
This project will provide us with book boxes for our library, while also giving our classroom whiteboards and clipboards.
The boards will allow us to work with our partners anywhere in the classroom, interact with what we are doing as a whole group, and engage students to work independently.
