My Students

My students are amazing! I teach 7th grade students the love of reading and writing (at least I try). They are a mix of kids, some think they are ready to be adults and some are still kids trying to figure out who they are in this world. I love teaching 7th grade because I feel it is the time in their lives where they figure out who they are. They are testing boundaries, becoming more independent, learning who their friends are and learning who they are all at the same time.

My students want to do what is right, and what is best, and want to please if given the opportunity.

The make-up of my classroom is not unique. We have many kids that have no resources, no supplies and no support at home. They all do have one thing in common, no matter how troubled they are or how limited in resources they are, they want to please. They want to learn and that is the most exciting part!

My Project

My students need to a place to put their materials. This may sound like a simple project, but it is, and it means so much to them to have a place in their classroom that is theirs to use. In our class we do an interactive notebook, and a writer's notebook. We use crayons, colored pencils, glue and scissors! Yes, my seventh graders cut and glue and use their creativity to make these notebooks their own!

I am proud of what they create in my classroom, and the need for a place to store their work is great!

These simple files will give them a place that is theirs to keep their "stuff"! The hard work they do in their notebooks and the creativity they show in their writing deserves a safe place, not crammed in a book bag!
