Mrs. Vondebur from Springfield IL is requesting supplies through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need three tables to add to the seven we already have for student's seats.

Imagine being told we don't have room at any table for you, so you will need to sit at one of these old desks. Help my students feel part of the group.
My second grade class consists of students from various walks of life.
A few are from homes with two parents. While most are from broken homes. Several live in foster care and others with aunts, uncles or grandparents. 79% are receiving free or reduced price lunches each day. They are great kids looking for stability in their chaotic lives.
Last year I received several tables for my students to sit at. The kids loved them. There was plenty of room for each child to spread out their work. The problem that followed was that not all students could sit at a table. My class population grew and some were forced to sit at desks that wobbled, were too little or too big for them. Those who sat at the desks did not have the same amount of work space and when doing group projects they were at a great disadvantage. Further, sitting at the desks was like a punishment to them. They were being treated differently from their peers. I have requested three adjustable tables, 30x48 inches. Each table will allow for three students to sit comfortably and provide adequate work space for each.
Please help level the playing field for my students.
Students who come from broken homes, who come without supplies, and whose lives are in chaos, need to find a place where they are treated with respect and care. They need to feel like they are treated equally. Tables will allow for extra work space and group collaboration.
