My students need Geo Spots and World Spots so that we can talk about global awareness.

As the focus has shifted to Math and Reading in the Elementary Schools, Social Studies often takes a back seat. I wonder what the future holds for our country when students are unsure of their place in the world. Question: What state do you live in? Answer: Greensboro. This is unacceptable.
My students come from a lower socioeconomic section of the city.
They love Physical Activity and I want to use that love to help integrate Some geography into their day. Our school is Title I and we have over 80% of our students receiving free or reduced lunch with the majority of them receiving free lunch. I want my students to be well-rounded when they leave our school.
I can use the Spots to give my students some information about states and countries while still allowing them to be active. I do not have the time to just sit the kids down and give a geography lesson, but I can have them move to the music and find a spot and take a moment to read the information on the spot. I can create games that use the information on the spots so that my students are given a quick lesson each day on the states and countries represented on the spots.
My project is important because there is a deficit in teaching Social Studies.
Our students are expected to know information that they simply are taught, let alone exposed to. While I agree Math and Reading are very important, I think our students need an education that prepares them to compete with others who have been exposed to all subject areas.
