My Students

I am privileged to work with a diverse community of students. In our fifth grade class, we have students from six different countries, who also come from diverse economic and linguistic backgrounds.

My students are amazing humans, and I am blessed to be part of their lives for a small piece of time.

They are inquisitive, thoughtful, and in great need of gaining the skills necessary to be successful in our diverse and changing world. I see it as a challenge to prepare my kids for jobs that do not yet exist.

My Project

In my math class, I attempt to engage my students in part with math games that I, or someone else has created. Each game helps my students practice and learn a very specific skill. The beautiful part of this is observing kids self-reflect on what they themselves need to work on, and see them selecting the game that is the right one for them without guidance from me.

Having bins that organize math games by specific skill will help my students tremendously.

It will allow them to easily find what they need without looking through a large box of games, therefore wasting valuable learning time.
