Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a class, we have been studying Black and African American artists and their contribution to our society. As we analyzed the artistic material, students started asking: "Where did racism come from?" A natural next step is for our class to explore where racism came from. how racist ideas have persevered over time, and what we can do to right the wrongs of our shared past.

Reading Stamped (for kids): Antiracism, Racism, and You will allow students to see where racist ideas originated from in order to engage in authentic dialogue about how to move forward together.

The world is not perfect, but looking honestly at our past can help our students gather the information needed to disrupt cycles of harm.
