Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My first grade students have a love of learning. They have economic challenges and are students in a Title I school. We have 450 students in our neighborhood school tucked away from the major road. Because of this, many people in the community are unaware of our school as one of their local schools.
Our students don't ask for much, but appreciate everything they are given.
Their needs are great, but the supplies are few. We manage the best we can and they continue to show great growth.
My Project
Every morning and throughout different parts of the day, my students visit our leveled library. The current book baskets are broken beyond repair.
The color coded baskets will simplify their search for books by level and theme.
The labeled baskets will help the students locate a book quickly, much like how they find a book in the school library.
My students will be so excited about how their leveled library looks. With the eye appeal comes a natural motivation to reading. Motivated readers are proficient readers and writers.
Your support is greatly appreciated by me and my current and future students.
