My kindergartners are sweet and loving 5 and 6 year-olds. They are full of energy and love to learn. They teach me a thing or two on a daily basis. They love anything new and challenging that you give them. They come from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds and some even come from non-traditional homes. For several of them, this is their first experience with school and I want them to leave my classroom ready to conquer the world.
My students are always complaining that it is hard to sit still in a chair. Chairs can be uncomfortable, especially if we are feeling full of energy!
My five year olds need to have options as they learn and grow.
The option of chairs, beanbags, and pillows will give them a better chance at being successful in the classroom. When students have flexibility, their learning also becomes more fun and engaging. Flexible seating in classrooms give students a choice about what kind of learning space works best for them. Right now some of my students have flexible seating but I want to make this available to all my students.
