This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are enthusiastic learners.  They work hard every day on difficult math and science problems.  They love interacting with issues that are outside the classroom and we regularly have debates on science issues that impact us on a daily basis and/or in the future.  

My 7th and 8th graders strive for success in the form of hard diligent work regularly.  By having the right tools, my students can make a lasting impact on their future.  It has been said that "the pen is mightier than the sword" and my students live that statement every day.

My Project

"Can I borrow a pencil?” That statement is frequently used throughout every school day. I teach Science and pencil usage is extremely important. Everyone makes mistakes and the great thing about pencils is that they allow for quick and easy corrections. So we need pencils!

We’ve exhausted our supply of pencils and we need more to continue working toward building our Science skills.

I’m convinced that pencils sprout legs at some point and scurry away. Even though I work with middle schoolers finding a pencil for many seems like a battle to the finish line. My scientists simply need pencils to successfully continue on their journey of learning.
