My kids are very inquisitive. They are constantly asking questions about what we will be doing or why/how something works. The school we are at is a Title I school. The kids are from all different backgrounds. We have kids that live on golf courses and have access to anything they may ever want/need. We also have kids who live in the projects or are even homeless and living in a hotel. I find it very important to do all that I can to give them the same educational opportunities. We have a very sweet bunch. They are constantly helping each other and always want to know why someone is not at school.
My student's are in need of materials that are hands on, active and that will help us differentiate in order to reach each student in the class.
These materials are going to be used to work with each child in order to grow their abilities. The skills we work to grow include things like their letters, the sounds of each letter, numbers, basic addition and subtraction, problem solving, etc.
My Project
My classroom is full of student's that are on all different levels. I have students that are beginning to read words and then I have student's who are unable to tell letters from numbers. With the letter items, my student's will be able to make the connection between letters and sounds and they will benefit from having to think about letters and make the connection that letters make sounds and build words. We will be able to use the items for a variety of purposes. The other items will be great for them to problem solve and have to put thought into what they are doing.
By donating these items to my classroom, you are helping us be able to reach each student no matter what level they are on and to push them to learn skills they will need/use on a daily basis.
Everyone knows that letters and sounds is a skill that has to be taught. Not many people know that you also have to teach problem solving. We are able to teach problem solving with all of these items.
