Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach 5th grade half of the day and 6th grade the other half. My students are part of a Spanish Dual Immersion program housed in a Title I school. The students spend half of the day with me in English, then rotate to another teacher in Spanish for the other half of the day. Our program is a two-way program, meaning that half of our students come from Spanish-speaking homes and the other half come from English-speaking homes.
We love reading in our classroom!
Each year I enjoy introducing students to books they have not read before and analyzing them as a class. I am excited to share this book with my students. We also enjoy learning about Shakespeare, and the book of plays will help us enjoy his work more and possibly put on a Shakespeare play later on the year.
My Project
My students love reading! These books will help our students to have access to the text as we enjoy the novel together, rather than listening to the teacher read it aloud. It will help them learn how to find answers in the book, and use evidence from the text to think at a deeper level. The Shakespeare plays will help students learn to enjoy other genres.
Reading opens the world of possibilities.
As we introduce our students to more books, they can build that appreciation for the written word that will help them through the rest of their lives. I appreciate your help in making this possibility a reality.
