Help me give my students flexible seating chairs and a library bookcase for reading time.

Hooray! This project is fully funded
My students are my children away from home. I have been blessed to work with amazing high school students and each day I am so happy to interact and build a community that is safe for them. I teach my students to use their voices for change and to not be afraid to stand up for what is right. I teach a wide variety of students who come from homes with both parents and loving relationships to students who have to be the caregivers for younger siblings or grandparents because their parents are working multiple jobs to provide the basic necessities.
No matter the home that they come from, whenever my students walk into my classroom, I want them to feel safe, accepted, welcome, respected and comfortable.
I believe that when students feel this way, even the most unmotivated ones will at least try for their teacher, and often times they will not just try, they will do for them what they may not do for another teacher all because that teacher made them feel safe and accepted. Some of my most unmotivated will jump at the chance to help me in the classroom.
Reading and writing go hand in hand. I chose bean bags chairs to provide flexible seating for students who do not function well in traditional classroom seats.
When students are exposed to good reading consistently, research has shown, that their reading and writing skills increase significantly.
I want to provide that opportunity and space in my classroom. My current bookshelf is falling apart and I would love to have flexible seating as a way to give my students a comfortable space to read. My goal is to provide a room library and space for students to read independently and have book talks among their peers.
If I can provide a space I know they will improve their reading overall.
