My Project

My kids this year are some of the sweetest, most caring, and genuine students I have had the pleasure of working with. This school year they have truly taken on the role of leaders in the school and have accepted themselves both social as and academic role models. I wake up every day so excited to teach them.

With that said, my kids are growing in more ways than one.

Not only are their bodies physically growing bigger, the academic rigor in our 5th grade classroom is growing exponentially as we are preparing for middle school. Traditional desks in our classroom are rigid and becoming a real barrier for free thinking. On top of this, they take up a lot of physical space making collaboration around the room very difficult when we consider that their bodies are also growing. I am hoping that with flex seating the physical barrier of desks will be removed for my students so they can focus themselves fully on the learning. I am also hoping that for students with varying sensory needs, providing different seating choices will allow them to have movement and comfort while they learn. I want our classroom to feel like a home and I know flexible seating will be a step in the that direction.
