We are a classroom made up of 3 to 5-year-olds with special needs ranging from severe to basic speech needs. We love hands-on learning, so we tend to get messy, but that is how we learn best! Our students will be in school a bit longer than most, so it is important to me to make their learning fun and something they can use to grow on. We want to build on their strengths and develop areas that are challenging. We are a small school made up of 5 developmental preschool classrooms and 2 general education preschool classrooms. Our goal is to prepare each student and help them to be as independent as they can be and to teach them to help others on their journey through life.
My Project
Right now we do not have any dress up clothes or Dr's kit to help expand our student's imagination and play skills. I find them using items to pretend they are giving a shot or pretend they are looking in each other ears. They also find clothing items like scarves and pretend they are aprons.
We would like to have a variety of outfits that they can easily put on and let our imaginations take off!
They will be working on their daily living skills and fine motor skills while dressing. They will be able to pretend to be a Dr or a Police Person or a Mail Person and to work on their social skills. These items will help us to expand on our speech and language skills as well.
