My Students

I teach at a wonderful Title I elementary school in Northern California. My students are from low socioeconomic backgrounds and most receive free or reduced-price lunch. More than 50% of our students are English Language Learners.

These students are hardworking children who come to school excited about the daily lessons.

I would like these children to have every opportunity available that will improve their chances to succeed while understanding our daily lessons. Having all the supplies available to help the children learn their daily lessons is very important.

My Project

Names are very important. It has been said that one of the most important words you can hear spoken is your name. This is especially true with kids. Teaching your child to write their name is not a task to be taken lightly.

When a child is reluctant to learn letters or practice writing, the first piece of advice is start with the letters in their name.

With the use of nameplates and magnetic photo sleeves they will be able to practice writing their names. In addition, the materials will be used in many different ways to achieve our main goal of teaching our students letter recognition and letter sounds.
