Sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students are the most amazing humans ever! I am fortunate to be able to guide, teach, and be taught by these kiddos.
In the science classroom, we have intelligent conversations, work hard on problem solving, and learn about habits and attitudes that will have an impact on them well beyond the classroom.
They are so flexible and eager to learn more than what is initially presented to them.
The kiddos are willing to help and work with each other and they have learned to self-manage making any lab work or projects more successful as they have more responsibility within each of these settings.
Overall the students have morphed into a community of learners that will benefit them in whatever role they choose after their school job is ended.
My Project
Climate and weather are often a misnomer in a students world and students often believe that they are one and the same. The ability to track, record, and analyze data from a weather station will help student to better understand what factors interact and influence weather.
As the students decipher the data it will help them to understand the difference between weather and climate and to understand how the they impact the cycles on the Earth.
A deeper understanding will also help the students to understand how biotic and abiotic factors are impacted as a result of the weather and the climate.
