My students are part of a project-based school where they get to engage in hands-on learning as much as possible. This kind of hands-on learning allows them to gain deeper understanding by doing instead of only reading or hearing about a particular topic, and allows my students to focus on the STEAM topics we try to emphasize at my school. My students range from 7th to 12th grade, and have a variety of interests and abilities.
They get excited with every science project we do, and often tell me that science is their favorite class!
These kits will help my chemistry students understand some of the concepts that I have seen my students struggle with the most. Whenever we go over atomic theory or Le Chateleir's principle, my students tend to forget quickly and need continuous repetition. However, when I do hands on activities with other topics, my students retain it better and can apply it longer.
My students are more engaged and retain information better when they are given the opportunity to engage in hands on projects.
These kits would allow me to fill in the gaps that tend to appear in the spectrum of their chemistry learning.
