I am a passionate preschool teacher. I teach a diverse group of students, ages 4 and 5. Many of these students come from low-income families who face many different challenges on a daily basis. My goal is to provide a high quality education to prepare them for Kindergarten. To do this I need a variety of materials to enhance their learning and give them experiences they would otherwise not receive.
My student’s are curious, creative and demonstrate a desire to learn through play.
While they are at school, my students receive a free breakfast, lunch and snack to help meet their basic needs so they are able to learn. It is my job to give them a variety of learning experiences so they can explore, grow and learn. Many materials used in my classroom are not available to them at home. I want to encourage my student’s to learn while having fun. I want to set them up for a successful life and love of learning.
My Project
Learning about weather is something that happens throughout the school year. We learn about weather with each changing season, during severe weather practice drills and at the end of the year as a study on its own. Every day we start by asking them what the weather is.
These kits will allow us to explore weather more easily during small groups during the school day, and virtually.
They are versatile and meet the needs of every season. They also have items that my students are interested in and well as lessons to further their inquiries.
