Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My kindergarteners are the best! They come to school every day knowing that there will be a routine and we will be learning something new and exciting in math, language arts, music, science and social studies.
They love to listen to all types of stories and are eager to begin reading themselves!
In the beginning of the year we are playing with letter sounds and building words as a class. These kiddos always try their best, never give up and continuously have a smile on their face!
My Project
My students are eager to learn how to read. The foundation of reading is identifying the letters of the alphabet and the sounds each letter makes. Once we have mastered our letters and sounds we can move on to the exciting part of putting those sounds together and making words!
Having hands on materials to practice building and sounding out words will be incredibly beneficial to students' success.
By the time a child leaves kindergarten, they are expected to read a book with multiple sentences on a page. Literacy games will provide opportunities for my students at each stage of their development. If they are at the beginning stages we will focus on the letters and sounds and when they are ready we will move to the activities of sounding out and building CVC words.
These literacy materials will create a fun learning environment and build confidence in each of my students. They will be reading and writing in no time!
