This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My students are very curious and engaging 3rd graders! One question they frequently ask is, “What’s science got to do with it?” I tell them “everything”! I am a third grade teacher in a “high-need” community and my students love to explore, question and interact with learning.
Not surprisingly, science is the subject that really gets them excited. They love stimulating hands-on activities. Unfortunately, we have only a few of the materials needed to “get things started”. Supplies are limited. Asking students to be successful without giving them the needed materials is never good policy or good practice.
I am asking for your help in giving the students a chance to explore and grow in knowledge. Students are empowered when provided with the resources that foster learning. Please help me provide items such as “Magnetic Science Boards” on which students can investigate topics; “Instant Science Trays” where students can communicate through diagrams and a “Science Library”.
With your help, you can “make science happen” for my students. With your generous help, my students could really begin to understand “What’s science got to do with it”.
