My students need 24 jump ropes, 24 hula hoops, 9 sport balls, 10 kickballs and 2 ball bags to provide activities for all 148 of our primary students during recess!

Our students need productive physical activity during recess time! We need playground balls, hula hoops and jump ropes to keep our students actively and positively engaged during recess. The 4 swings and small jungle gym that we currently have is insufficient for our 140+ primary students.
Our primary students are awesome!
Our school was established by a charter designed to meet the language and academic content needs of a diverse group of students, while focusing on appreciation for culture and community. They come from many diverse backgrounds. Almost all are English Language Learners. Many come from families of refugees from Somalia or the Middle East and they are 1st generation Americans. Our school is located in a very high poverty region of a major city.
Physical activity is absolutely essential for healthy young bodies and minds. In order to get the most out of learning time in the classroom, primary students need that physical release during recess. Expending that energy wakes them up and prepares their minds for active learning. Our primary grade students need adequate playground equipment to use during recess to encourage movement and to develop an interest in sports and teamwork. Our 140+ primary students currently have the choice of playing on a small structure, waiting in line for the 4 swings or chasing each other around. When children don't have enough to do, they get into trouble or begin senseless arguments. We want students to have fun during recess, expend their extra energy in positive ways, and come back to class with minds ready to learn. My students need 24 jump ropes, 24 hula hoops, 9 sport balls, 10 kickballs and 2 ball bags to provide activities.
Getting students up and moving is an integral part of a child's education.
You can help us provide 140+ primary students with the fun tools needed to keep them active and encourage a spirit of teamwork.
