Help me give my students materials to create a habitat for birds and small animals outside our classroom window. The bird feeder and house that attach to the window will provide a look into the life of birds!
My students love to explore, create, inquire, and think outside-the-box! They love to build, learn new games, and play outside. They even build during outdoor recess with our wood boards and pieces.
These first graders love to collaborate, whether on a new math game, a good book, or a new idea they are exploring!
Exploration is a big part of our path to learning as we engage in reading, writing, math and learning about our world!
The world is full of wonder and my students are ready to explore and discover the world around them and afar.
My Project
While reading about animals in winter, our class decided to create a place for birds and squirrels outside our classroom window. These students would like to learn more about the life of birds and squirrels and to provide them food, water, and shelter during these winter months. This project will expand their understanding of birds and their life cycle and excite their passion for science and learning!
The bird feeder and bird house that attaches to the outside of our window will give us an up-close view of a bird's life.
Students will develop responsibility as they make sure the habitat has food and water every day.
They also want to build additional feeders and even a squirrel maze, to further their investigation of wildlife in our school yard. This hands-on learning will provide students with life-long lessons and information about wildlife.
