This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are part of the largest school system in our state, and our district is severely underfunded. I typically have 25-30 four-year-olds in my classroom; most regularly experience trauma and live in poverty. For many, school is their safest environment. I strive to provide them with as many positive and enriching experiences as I can while they are with me. The good news is that my students are excited about learning, open to new experiences, and ready to take on the world!
My Project
These two items will help students visualize some very abstract concepts. They will get to see how chicks grow and change inside an egg with the Chick Life Cycle Exploration set. It is so hard to explain things that kids cannot see- this life size day-by-day model will help them understand what is happening to a chick as it grows.
With the What's Inside Me?
doll, the students will also get to see how all of our organs fit together inside our body, and how large/small they are in comparison to each other. When we are discussing different classroom illnesses, we will be able to use the doll to show which parts are actually feeling sick!
