This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My class is full of wonderful, kind and caring students who come from all walks of life. Even though I have students who have a difficult time bringing the basic supplies to school, they come to school ready and eager to learn. I look forward to greeting each student every morning as they enter my classroom door. The smiles and "good mornings" that I receive in return make my day.
Our students enter the doors of our colorful school knowing that the staff is prepared to help them reach their potential of being college and career ready.
My Project
Having Scholastic News will help my students to safely "travel" outside of our community by way of reading about what is going on around our great nation and the world. They will be able to engage in healthy classroom discussions about what is currently happening in our world. These magazines will open a whole new adventure for my students. Not only will they be getting some great nonfiction reading and enhance their reading comprehension, but these magazines will allow my students to see what is going on outside of our own community. By bringing Scholastic News to my students, they may be encouraged to travel outside of our area and see what our world has to offer them firsthand.
