Help me give my students an experience of a lifetime at Oxford University. Your generous donation will help them pay for an all-inclusive academic program at Oxford University.
My students attend a selective enrollment school in the city of Chicago. They are high-achieving young men and women who have worked very hard to be admitted to a school that challenges them to live every day with courage, compassion, character, and curiosity--our four Cs.
Donating to my project will allow me to further enrich the academic and personal lives of my students.
As a Chicago Public School, our high school is perennially under-funded relative to suburban schools in the Chicago area, and any additional funding is greatly appreciated.
My Project
Imagine a student who loves both the sciences and the arts and reads literature voraciously. Now imagine 18 of them. This experience of a lifetime for our students will bring the science and literature they are learning to life at Oxford University. Inspired by the work of Gillian Beer, their academic work will focus on how Victorian literature was influenced by the theories of Charles Darwin.
These Chicago Public School students are highly driven and have committed to reading beyond their regular classroom curricula in order to engage with how the sciences and the arts can dovetail in profound ways.
Living in Oxford University dormitories, visiting sites that were frequented by J.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis, and engaging in an intellectually stimulating seminar will leave an indelible impression on our students.
