My Students
I teach English language arts to more than one hundred seventh grade students. Our school is a Title I school in rural South Carolina where a significant portion of students live below the poverty line.
My classes are composed of both high-achieving gifted and talented students, and struggling students who are often reading below grade level.
Each of these groups has very unique needs in order to be successful, and each group needs encouragement and guidance to reach their individual potential.
My Project
Our school has recently become a 1:1 school, meaning every child has access to a Chromebook at school throughout every class. While this is amazing for our students, and has opened up a multitude of resources otherwise unavailable, it has also created a new problems. Namely, the volume in the classroom of 25+ Chromebooks all playing at the same time.
Providing my students with headphones will not only cut down on the noise in the classroom, but will allow my students to focus on their individual tasks.
As an added bonus the microphones attached to these headphones will further open up the technological possibilities.
