My students need relevant literature to go along with our STEM lessons. There are so many good books available to reinforce what is being learned in the classroom. Our STEM library needs YOU!
I have the opportunity to teach STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) to every student in our PK-5 school. Students are encouraged to problem solve, work together, and use and develop their creative imaginations.
Students are encouraged to learn from mistakes in order to adapt their solutions to solve the given problem.
Our class uses real world problems that can have an impact in their lives directly. We often use literature in the classroom to help set the stage for students to understand the process involved in solving problems, most importantly not giving up. Students learn how to fail, and how to recover from that failure as well as learning to draw strength from and support the work of fellow students.
My Project
What better way to introduce young minds to STEM than through a good book. Our STEM class is in its third year and our STEM library is very limited.
We are looking to increase our STEM library with a few pieces of good STEM literature.
Our students will have fun identifying with young kids their own age making new inventions and learning along the way!
We often use a book at the beginning of class to help the students get ideas churning in their heads. The reading is then followed by an activity that will capitalize on what has been learned or focused on for that day.
STEM is relatively new (3 years) in our school and is constantly building and evolving. A substantial STEM library would be an awesome addition to our classroom.
