Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach some of the most amazing, 4th-grade students at a Title I school in South Carolina. At our school, we believe that “Every student counts and every moment matters!” This is my fourth year teaching fourth grade and I absolutely love working with my students. They are such a diverse group of students that come from a variety of ethnic backgrounds.
My students are such a sweet and eager group of kids and they deserve the very best experiences!
Our students come from a high poverty area, but their families are very hard-working and supportive of their children's education. It is such a joy to work with them. Most of the families live within walking distance of the school and walk to and from school. It amazes me how much they put into the education of their children and how wonderful they are to work with!
My Project
Think back to your fondest memories from your elementary classrooms...what do you see? You probably don't picture a classroom void of color, classroom rugs, a classroom library, and all of the fun and engaging activities that make elementary classrooms so very special. This is exactly what classrooms during COVID look like. Now more than ever, students need colorful and engaging environments!
“Mere color, unspoiled by meaning, and unallied with definite form, can speak to the soul in a thousand different ways”.
~Oscar Wilde
My students need a circuit machine to brighten up our classroom. We also need this machine in order to create personalized cards, handmade gifts, and diecuts in our annual community project. Each year my students create hand made cards and gifts for local cancer patients. Now more than ever it is so important for my students to learn the importance of generosity and empathy! Through this project, my students will be able to learn that when you share love, you receive love in return!
"No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted!" -Aesop
Please help me brighten our classroom with color and empathy!
