Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach children in a low-income and high poverty neighborhood in the inner city of Los Angeles. At this Title I school, 100% of my students receive free or reduced-price lunch.
Though their economic standing has them encountering many challenges, struggling to receive an exemplary education will not be one of them as far as I am concerned.
My hope is to provide my students with the highest expectations so that they can succeed in their lives, education, and careers. To help me do that, I need resources that these students may not have readily available.
My Project
Technology is a heavily relied on tool in the classroom. My students use computers to research, type up their writing, practice specific skills, and basically watch the world open right before their eyes.
It's my goal to build a classroom where the student and device ratio is one to one.
Currently, I share a technology cart with another teacher and I recently got a project funded that added four more computers to my classroom, so that means 20 to go. As of right now, it's difficult for students to complete projects and fully access computers to meet their educational needs so I am requesting three Chromebooks. These Chromebooks will open up my planning so I can engage in bigger projects for my students to take on. I will be able to take them to new places in the classroom.
