Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from a diverse population. Many are from a low socioeconomic background and are second language learners. They are faced with many challenges, one of which is coming from homes which qualify for free or reduced-price lunches. Often times, our students do not have the physical and mental stimulation they need at home, so we want to provide this at school, in a productive and fun way.
I would like to create an innovative and flexible learning environment to promote focus and engagement in the classroom.
We can help construct experiences that improve their deductive reasoning and expand their imagination through the use of technology and online experiences. By making them relevant to all subject areas, it will help prepare students for life after school. Students will also feel empowered and motivated when provided choices in their learning environment. Students will solve problems and make choices independently in a comfortable workspace.
My Project
Ozobots will be used to code specific pathways for the robot to follow. Students will be challenged to develop their own designs and write code to help the robot follow their step-by-step instructions. They will use the robots to create and explain perimeter and area. Students will think, plan, and work together to solve problems.
Students will develop skills they will use in real life situations such as collaboration, communication, and critical thinking.
Students will be inspired to use deductive reasoning and problem solving while coding using Ozobots! Their focus and engagement will improve by giving them flexible seating choices in the classroom.
