My students need three sets of ball foam coated soccer technoskin, to have enough pinnies for each player, so that they can recoginize who is on each team, and reduce the number of potential injuries.
My day begins with setting up the gymnasium or lower field with the necessary equipment that the kids will need to be successful in physical education. I am a educator, mentor and facilitator to all my students, so that my students can be more active and live a healthier lifestyle.
I have been teaching physical education for the past 15 years, and I love every moment that I get to educate our youth about the importance of an active and healthier lifestyle.
My students that I am currently teaching are between the ages of 12-14. On a daily basis I teach approximately 215 students a day, and get a chance to interact and build positive relationships.
Back in the early 1990's, I wanted to make a positive change for our youth, and since my first teaching job, I have been blessed that I get a chance to fulfill my dreams. My students attend a public middle school, and during my classes, I get so much pleasure witnessing my students engaged and learning through a variety of team and cooperative games. This is one of the great ways students can learn the values of camaraderie, problem solving, communication, patience and so many other tangibles that helps each child mature and succeed.
My Project
Over the 15 wonderful years that I have been teaching, I have seen my share of equipment breaking down, misplaced, damaged or just getting too old and out of date. My job can be very demanding at times, but I noticed that when I have everything set up in place, my students have a better chance of remaining safe and succeeding. Having the requested technoskins, will allow me to have enough pinnies for each player. Having these pinnies will help the students recognize who is on each team. Having our students participate with the proper equipment, will decrease the potential number of injuries and safety will definitely increase. There can be up to three teachers teaching PE at one time and if we could have enough equipment for all activities, then our students will not have to just settle.
We do a pretty good job compromising as a department, but there have been times when our students lose out on opportunities. My overall vision is to engage ALL students to actively learn through a variety of cooperative games safely and to have the necessary equipment to allow this to happen. These pinnies will help to make this happen.
As I previously stated, we want to keep our students actively learning and remaining safe.
When you have the combination of the proper equipment and a passionate teacher, then your chances of safety and learning taking place definitely increases tremendously. This set will allow our students to feel they are not missing out or being given the "short end of the stick." There have been too many occasions where our students had to make unnecessary sacrifices throughout the years.
